We’ll spend 6 hours (with a couple breaks) working collaboratively to draft the outline of your book. You’ll do the brainstorming and outlining, but I’ll be there to ask questions and guide you through the process. I’ll also share my easy outlining process that will have you outlining future books like a pro!
Are you a planner or do you prefer to just wing it when it comes to writing? In the writing world this is usually referred to as being a plotter (using outlines to plot your books) or a discovery writer (discovering your story as you write it).
There is no “wrong” way to approach developing your idea, but outlines are useful for a few key reasons:
They give you a basic road map to follow as you write
They help you avoid falling prey to the myth of writer’s block
They allow you to see the bigger picture of your project and identify problems before they become stumbling blocks.
But not everyone is a natural outliner, especially if you’ve only ever learned traditional alphanumerical outline formats. But outlining does’t have to be intimidating or boring. I prefer an approach that mixes outlining with discovery writing that gives you both clarity and flexibility when you start writing.
